The Ultimate "Dead by Daylight" Themed HSC Software Study Plan

Study Plan Objective

To provide Bhodi with a comprehensive and engaging 4-lesson study plan to master key areas of the NESA Software Engineering 11-12 (2022) syllabus. Each one-hour lesson is designed to build upon the last, creating a logical flow from high-level concepts to specific, practical skills, all in preparation for the trial exams.

  • Lesson 1: The Blueprint for Creation - The SDLC & Its Diagrams
Focus: Establish the "big picture" of software creation using NESA-required diagrams for planning, scheduling, and defining project scope
Learn the Software Development Life Cycle through visual planning tools. Cover Waterfall methodology with Gantt Charts for project scheduling (DbD Rift/Battle Pass timeline), Context Diagrams for system boundaries (DbD game system scope), and Agile methodology with Kanban Boards for workflow management (bug fix lifecycle).
  • Lesson 2: The Game's Memory - Databases (SQL) and Logic Diagrams
Focus: Deep dive into Design and Implementation phases - data structure and low-level logic mapping
Design Entity-Relationship Diagrams for DbD game elements (Survivors, Killers, Perks). Build databases using SQL and write queries to retrieve specific game information like "Show me all perks that belong to The Trapper." Include system logic through flowcharts.
  • Lesson 3: The Public Realm & Its Defenses - Web Tech & Security
Focus: Apply SDLC framework to website development with integrated security considerations
Explore HTML, CSS, and JavaScript using the official deadbydaylight.com website. Learn about security vulnerabilities (SQL Injection, XSS) in the context of protecting player accounts and the in-game store. Cover email protocols for account verification.
  • Lesson 4: The Logic of the Trial - Algorithms and the Rise of AI
Focus: Core software logic and social/ethical implications of AI - bringing the curriculum to conclusion
Understand algorithms through in-game examples (search for Add-ons, scoreboard sorting). Explore AI and Machine Learning through DbD's bot system and discuss the broader social and ethical implications of AI in gaming and society.
